Block #11 - Character Quilt - The Very Hungry Caterpillar

A caterpillar eats its way through a wide variety of foodstuffs before pupating and emerging as a butterfly.  It introduces concepts of Lepidoptera life stages where transformations take place including the ultimate metamorphosis from 'hungry caterpillar' to 'beautiful butterfly'.
#11-The Very Hungry Caterpillar

One interesting aspect of this book is that the caterpillar "eats holes" in the book as he searches for more and more food!  Visually appealing.

Very nicely done - I think the fuzzy part is hand embroidery? There's some attention to detail!!

Yes, hand embroidery. This one probably had the least amount of any block so far! Like with the three mice in "Mousepaint", those little feet were a booger to machine stitch!
