Here is the "before". I loved this little garden border that my daughter gave me several years ago, but I need something easier to clean after my bacon loving husband finishes cooking every morning.
This little border ran around the kitchen under all the cabinets.
Before
I'll call this picture "intermission"...removed wallpaper border, tile up next. The blue is the prior kitchen color before the border. The "cappuccino" is the current paint color.
The "after" picture will come much later. This is the first time I have ever done a tile project, but it looks pretty straight-forward, so I refuse to be "skeered"!! I chose tiny tiles so I wouldn't (hopefully) have to cut so much. Prayers for success are welcome - haha!!
I can't wait to put all the color back on the counter to brighten it all up. I have gone "back" some of the 70's colors as regards greens (remember avocado?) and yellows (gold actually). NO orange from the 70's, though....it's red. The red is more of a colonial deep red with a brown tinge to it. All-in-all, a very pleasing combination for me after having used blues/yellows/greens for 30-40 years.
Here are a couple of pictures that show the accent colors. The little green bird pitcher was a Mother's Day gift and it is perfect!! His brown accents on his feathers matches the new tile perfectly! The rooster book-ends I've had for a while, but they show you the gold and red too.
This is the side that has the tile up, but no grout yet. You can see the leftover space between the cabinet and the tile. This will get the wall color paint. It's too narrow for another row of little tiles, and I don't want to cut any. They have tile borders I could purchase, but they are too expensive. You can't really see this small space anyway, unless you are bending down and looking up.
This is the side that I just finished grouting.........and
This is the whole length. I am pleased with it. It is recycled glass, so I feel good about that too. I do need to alter the plugs a little since I added a little depth with the thickness of the tile, but that is no big deal.

Wow! It looks really great... I love it. Yay you! :)
This is so pretty!
Thanks, guys. It was so much easier than I anticipated. Not "skeered" anymore..haha!
It looks great with the accessories. Aren't you proud of yourself? :)
I don't know that I would say "proud", but I do like the look. It seems more cozy and put together now than before...especially at night with the lights on. The tile has a nice reflecting quality without being "glary".
Sherrye, it looks wonderful, a change of colors can be so uplifting.
