Block #18 - Character Quilt - Pete the Cat

Pete the Cat is rocking in his school shoes. Pete discovers the library, the lunchroom, the playground, and lots of other cool places at school. And no matter where he goes, Pete never stops moving and grooving and singing his song . . . because it’s all good.

I had so much fun doing this block because this character has so many details.  This was probably my favorite block so far, with Scaredy Squirrel a close second!!  He had a good amount of detail, also.

Until next time....... be groovy and sing your song......It's ALL good!!

Did you do all those little strings and frets by hand or by machine? It looks like your little dancing musical notes are machine stitched - do you knot in place or tie off in back? It looks perfect!!

All the detail on the guitar is done by hand. The "bar" of the musical notes is machine zig-zagged, but the rest is done by hand. His shoe laces were done by machine, but the eyelets, and the outline stitching (the black) for the whole picture is done by hand. That's why it took so long!! Also, not sure you noticed, but some of the pictures are zig-zagged all in black (because the picture was) and some are outlined (zig-zagged) in the fabric colors. Obviously, the ones with different colors take longer, because you are constantly changing thread in your machine. All knots are hand tied on the back, except French Knots, of course, since they are part of the design.
