"Wave-y" borders - Beach Blanket

After my friend Cheryl Kotecki suggested "wave-y" borders for lengthening the quilt, I got excited to make a row of blocks she showed me called "Snail's Trail"  (the link is in her comment on the last post).  They would have been perfect for this quilt.  However!!!!!!! , after several attempts at making the blocks (even in different sizes) and them NOT turning out anywhere near square, I decided to go to plan B......I wanted to keep the "wave-y" idea going, so I copied and repeated the wave that was in the "Shamu" Orca block.  One border at the top and one at the bottom facing the opposite direction.

The blue represents the water, the white represents the sea foam, and the narrow green represents the seaweed washed up on shore.  Here is a picture of the top with the final borders on, with a close-up each of the top and bottom wave borders.

As mentioned before, the backing will be the "fish" fabric that I found after starting the quilt, and the binding will be the aqua that was used for the sashing.  Now on to the quilting!!  Until next time................

THIS LOOKS GREAT!!! I hope your granddaughter likes it as much as I do! Your solution - to do the applique, well, lots of piecers hate applique. Obviously, you are not one of those and this new border is perfect with the blocks you made!!
