A Biltmore kind of day

Today was almost 60 degrees and rain is forecast for the next two days, so it just seemed necessary that we grab lunch and go to the river/pond at the Biltmore today... we grabbed a couple of subs from Jersey Mike's and took them over there.

The sky was a brilliant blue...

it was a little breezy

and it was chilly in the shade.

The river was fast flowing...

and sparkling in the bright sunshine.

The pond was very active with geese until they all flew away...

but, then they all returned a little later.  I tried to catch them in flight, but couldn't .  Here they are landing and skidding to a stop.

I finished one book...

and started another...

There were many signs of Spring (I know the date doesn't say so, but the plants and temps do):

Some kind of wild Spirea near the river...

Crocus near the winery...

 Daffodil bulbs...

and buds on the trees.

And, then, we decided to be bad and go to the creamery:

He got vanilla in a waffle bowl with caramel sauce, whipped cream and a cherry...

and I got warm bread pudding.

It's a good thing we are getting a bike for David on Saturday because eating with no exercise is a "no-no" at our age!!!  Next time we go to Biltmore, we will be taking two bikes!!  We DID take the long way back to the car....LOL!
